Psychological Support
A supportive, individualised pathway to clarity
Our Approach
While Insight Collective specialises in child and adolescent assessment, we also offer a limited number of counselling appointments for young people and families who would benefit from ongoing support. Our approach is warm, person-centred and strengths-based, with a strong focus on helping children and adolescents feel understood, supported, and empowered.
Intervention can be helpful when a young person is experiencing anxiety, low mood, emotional regulation difficulties, stress, adjustment challenges, friendship issues, school-related worries, self-esteem concerns, or when families would benefit from guidance and practical strategies at home.
Psychology support at Insight Collective is individualised; we take time to understand the young person’s internal experience, what has contributed to current challenges, and what supports will make daily life feel easier. Sessions are paced carefully and adjusted to developmental level, attention capacity, and comfort. We use evidence-based strategies while keeping the process grounded, practical, and compassionate.
Initial session
The first appointment is an Initial Assessment Session (70–90 minutes). If the young person is a child, a parent/guardian may attend all or part of this session. We will explore developmental and family history, current concerns, strengths, goals, and any relevant school or health context. This session helps us form a clear understanding of needs and begin a tailored treatment plan.
The Initial Assessment Session is longer and involves additional time outside the appointment (e.g., case formulation, treatment planning, coordination or correspondence where relevant).
Standard sessions
Standard sessions are 50 minutes, with time reserved outside the session for preparation, treatment planning, case formulation, note writing, and (when appropriate) brief coordination with relevant supports.
Fees
Standard Session(50 Minutes): $240
Initial Assessment Session (70–90 Minutes): $360
Late cancellation & missed session fees
When you book an appointment, that time is reserved specifically for you. We understand that unexpected things arise, and we appreciate as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Less than 48 hours’ notice: 50% of the session fee
Less than 24 hours’ notice (or non-attendance): 100% of the session fee
Please note that weekends and public holidays are not included in the notice period.
Cancellations/rescheduling should be made via email or text to ensure we receive your message in time.
Medicare rebates
If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP (or paediatrician/psychiatrist), you may be eligible for Medicare rebates for a set number of sessions each calendar year. Rebates vary and are set by Medicare.
Please note: Medicare rebates cannot be claimed for late cancellation or missed appointment fees.
Private health insurance
Private health insurance rebates may be available depending on your level of cover. If eligible, invoices are typically submitted to your health fund directly. You cannot claim both Medicare and private health rebates for the same session.
NDIS and other funding
Psychological services may be funded through the NDIS or other schemes, depending on individual circumstances and plan arrangements. Please note that some funding sources may not cover the full fee, and an out-of-pocket component may apply
